Update on Insert Coating Process for Enhanced Visual Appearance

We’re making things smoother, faster, and better! To enhance manufacturing efficiencies, improve quality and make sure products are in your hands faster, we’re standardizing the PVD coating process for our Top Notch™ Grooving and Threading products.

Starting January 1, 2025, all Top Notch Grooving and Threading products will be treated with the updated PVD coating handling process.

While this change brings consistency in appearance to most of the Kennametal Top Notch portfolio, there will be a transitional period of mixed offerings until the process is completed (following the FIFO principle).

This change will not affect machining performance, as the coating specifications remain the same.
