Kennametal Inc. announced today that Chairman, President and CEO Carlos Cardoso has been named a member of the Executive Committee of the Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI Board leadership team. Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI is a leading business research and executive education organization and advocate for manufacturing interests since 1933.

Joining Kennametal in 2003, Cardoso served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from January 2005 until he was named President and CEO in January 2006 and later Chairman in January 2008. He has more than 25 years of experience in management spanning manufacturing, engineering, quality control, operations, sales and marketing. In addition, he has an extensive global background having lived and worked on three continents.

Cardoso has been named one of America's "Best Chief Executive Officers" by Institutional Investor Magazine, and is a member of The Stanley Works Board of Directors and the Allegheny Conference on Community Development Board. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and a master's degree in management from the Hartford Graduate Center. He is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean Green Belt.
