LATROBE, Pa., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kennametal Inc. (NYSE: KMT) announced today that it raised $1M in support of the United Way and its agencies during the 2013 campaign, marking a record year for donations as the company celebrated its 75th anniversary.
Kennametal Chairman, President and CEO Carlos Cardoso accepted the first-ever "Live United" award today given by The United Way of Westmoreland County to recognize the $1M campaign, as well as the company's longstanding and multifaceted support of the community.

Nearly 1,600 Kennametal employees pledged $679,000 to the campaign through annual contributions or participation in fundraising events. The company raised an additional $172,000 in its annual Strategic Supplier Golf Outing, while leadership donations garnered $107,000 in matching grants from a community foundation, and the Kennametal Foundation added its annual contribution of $45,000, bringing the final total to $1 million for the first time in the company's history.
At a special United Way of Westmoreland County luncheon held at Saint Vincent College today, Kennametal Inc., and other local companies were also honored as "Above and Beyond" campaign contributors, for campaigns that each raised over $200,000.
